We can remember it for you wholesale

A collage of images showing an empty meeting room with a 30m LED screen with the word 'no' repeated , a man on stage reaching one arm to the ceiling, a man having a French flag drawn on his face, and a woman taking a photograph of the Eiffel Tower

While the amount of information our phones collect about us is scary, there is a positive side to it - the reminder from the photos app of what you were doing on this day x years ago. And we had a lovely reminder this morning about one of our favourite event shoots, 7 years ago today (and tomorrow, and the day after…).

It’s always nice to go to Paris. Even if it is for work. (This was not the occasion when we saw a car attempt to drive down the steps of the Metro, thinking it was an underground car park 🤦‍♂️.) And it’s especially nice when Paris is (i) sunny and (ii) buzzing because of the upcoming France vs Belgium world cup semi-final that evening. (A buzz only enhanced after the French win - and an evening of non-stop car horns and the like. England notably did not win their semi-final the following evening…)

What makes an event special from a professional photo and video perspective? Well, as much as being in Paris is lovely, we generally never leave the hotel - a hero shot of the landmarks from the upper floors is the best we can hope (and often the only proof that we were actually there). Which means we hope for:

  • A bold and interesting stage setting. There’s an old saying about how to get more beautiful photos: take photographs of more beautiful things. A proper, integrated design works magic - and a 30m wide curved LED screen certainly helps… It means we can get interesting angles and colours, making all of the presenters on stage look interesting. Speaking of which…

  • Dynamic speakers. Nobody wants to sit through hour upon hour of monotone death by PowerPoint. If a presenter has energy, has meaningful stories, has passion, this will all come through in photographs and videos. If you can make the audience laugh and cry, you’ve nailed it (and we’ll nail the shot)

  • Happy delegates. If you get the first two points right, you’ll have happy delegates. Keep them plied with coffee and pastries, and give them a chance to network, and we can capture the natural - and happy - interactions. Happy people = great photos = happy clients

  • Great clients. Obviously. We don’t work with bad clients.

And Paris hit all of these points (to be fair, all because of point 4 - all our shoots for these clients are great because they know how to deliver a perfect meeting. Every time.)
